It allows to interpolate an aliasing a ected image signal more accurate than conventional interpolation lters like bilinear or Wiener lter. In contrast to conventional lters, the new time-recursive lter uses not only the image signal of the current frame, but also the image signal of previous frames in order to interpolate the current frame. The lter has been tested with synthetic and real sequences. The experimental results for the synthetic sequence show, that with conventional lters it is not possible to predict an aliasing a ected image perfectly, even if the estimated displacements perfectly t to the sequence. Furthermore it is shown, that with the new lter it is possible to predict an aliasing a ected image perfectly. For the used real sequence a coding gain of 0.8 dB is achieved compared to an MPEG-4 codec.

Motion- and aliasing-compensated prediction for hybrid video coding
In order to reduce the bit rate of video signals, the standardized coding techniques apply motion-compensated prediction in combination with transform coding of the prediction error. By mathematical analysis, it is shown that aliasing components are deteriorating the prediction efficiency. In order to compensate the aliasing, two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional interpolation filters are...
متن کاملAdaptive Interpolation Filter for Motion Compensated Hybrid Video Coding
Common hybrid video coding standards such as H.263, MPEG-1,2,4 are based on motion compensated prediction. For the motion compensated prediction purpose, displacement vectors with fractional-pel resolutions (e.g. 1/2-pel or 1/4-pel) are used. In order to estimate and compensate fractional-pel displacements, the image signal has to be interpolated. The most popular and very simple interpolation ...
متن کاملAdaptive Interpolation Filter for Motion and . . .
Common motion compensated hybrid video coding standards such as H.263, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 are based on a fractional-pel displacement vector (DV) resolution of 1/2-pel. Recent approaches like MPEG-4 (ACE-profile) and H.26L use higher DV resolutions of 1/4-pel and 1/8-pel. In order to estimate and compensate fractional-pel displacements, the image signal has to be interpolated. Especially for...
متن کاملCoding of Coefficients of two-dimensional non-separable Adaptive Wiener Interpolation Filter
Standard video compression techniques apply motion-compensated prediction combined with transform coding of the prediction error. In the context of prediction with fractional-pel motion vector resolution it was shown, that aliasing components contained in an image signal are limiting the prediction accuracy obtained by motion compensation. In order to consider aliasing, quantisation and motion ...
متن کاملA Survey of Algorithms for Respiratory Motion Prediction in Robotic Radiosurgery
In robotic radiosurgery, a standard six-jointed industrial robot carries a linear accelerator. The accelerator can be moved such as to compensate for respiratory motion. Unfortunately, this motion cannot be compensated perfectly since the motion of the robot lags behind the motion of the target organ by – in systems currently employed clinically – approximately 150 ms. This delay is compensated...
